While we wish every Italian Greyhound to remain in a great home, sometimes it just isn't meant to be. Dogs are turned over to our rescue for a variety of reasons, including move, divorce, job loss, or other life changes for the owner. House training, energy level, leg breaks, and IGs with special needs the owner canít meet are also among the reasons an IG may be surrendered. We are happy and willing to take into our program any kid in need throughout the states of FL, AL, MS, and LA.

If you know you need to surrender your IG, are considering it, or know of an IG in need the first step is to contact us. If you are considering surrendering your IG but arenít sure if itís the right choice we will counsel you by listening to your concerns and attempting to provide solutions to fit you and your IGs needs first. If your IG is ultimately surrendered to our rescue we will welcome your dog into rescue, and you will have the knowledge that we will do everything possible to make sure that your IG's next home will be their forever home.

Dogs also come to us from other rescue organizations and shelters. We have good working relationships with other rescues and shelters, and will assist them in taking or placing IGs surrendered to their programs. We accept dogs regardless of health, behavior, sex, special needs, or age.

Surrendered dogs live in a foster home, not a shelter. We do take emergency surrenders and on occasion they may be placed in boarding with a veterinarian for a very short period of time, generally less than a week during which time we will provide veterinary care. We greatly encourage owners who are considering surrendering to contact us sooner rather than later so that we have the opportunity to schedule intake for your IG ahead of time to avoid boarding. If you are surrendering multiple kids and want them to stay together we will do our very best to place bonded pairs in foster homes together but advanced notice is key to securing a foster home for them together. Please keep in mind it is far easier for us to cancel an intake than to line up a foster home at the last minute. Securing a foster home for your IG ahead of intake also ensures a smoother transition for them.
