Xena & Isabelle

About Xena and Isabelle (Bonded Pair)

Meet Xena and Isabelle

Xena is about 10yrs old and is the red and white iggy, while her sister Isabelle is about 12 yrs old and black and white =) They are fostering in Florida and available for adoption throughout the whole Gulf Coast area. We are seeking a forever family for them to adopt them as a pair.

You may remember seeing their story a few months ago after we first welcomed them in. They are the adorable pair that was turned into the vet due to their human mom soon to be welcoming in a baby. Well we are thankful that vet discovered our program and we have since welcomed these girls into a loving foster home. Since they have settled in the we were able to get a bio of them from their foster parents and we are hoping we can begin to search for their forever family.

Isabelle appears to be very shy especially towards men but in general will let you pet her. She does seem to be a little nervous some days, but with gaining trust it should get better each day. Isabelle's favorite thing is enjoying sunbathing since this warm weather has started to come through. We have noticed that Isabelle will walk away if another dog approaches her while eating. Her foster family is making sure right now she is being fed separately so she can enjoy her food in peace. She does take a long time to potty so her forever home will need to watch her closely as she may still come inside to potty after you let her back in.

Xena does scratch at the door indicating when she needs to go potty and will alert you if she hears something. We have noticed that she is a little piggy even being at 13 yrs old. She will go eat the cat and dog food if it is left out. So her foster family tries to pick it up immediately when feeding time is over. She does respond to her name quicker than Isabelle and turns out Isabelle is usually following her =) She does love to jump in the humans laps and be affectionate by giving you kisses.

As they say its hard to teach old dogs new tricks?? We are definitely trying. They do well in the car and walking on leash, but their foster family is trying to get them a little more social in enjoying people. Oh and seems they may have forgotten how to play so we are trying to help them enjoy play time again!!

Their foster family would love for them to be adopted together into a home that can cherish them for their senior years. They will need a fenced in yard and both girls have learned how to use the dog door so it will be a plus if you have one and they can go potty as needed.
